What will change with China's new data regulations? Follow
In order to follow new data regulations in China, some aspects of Virgin Pulse app and web platform will be modified. With these new changes, you will see a difference in usage and storage, within a few areas of Virgin Pulse.
Moving forward, Sensitive Personal Information collected by the Virgin Pulse will be stored in a new China data center.
Who is impacted?
Only members located in China are impacted by these changes. This is determined by the IP address location and Country preference set in the member's profile and eligibility.
Non-PRC citizens may be impacted if they are located in China. If a member was counted as “in China” based on their IP address, their access should be automatically restored once they leave China.
Temporarily disabled features include:
- Health Check, Health Risk Assessment and My Care Checklist
- Collections and tracking of Health-related data and biometrics
- Vaccination, exam & screening information
- Chats in challenges and other Social features across the platform
We plan to initiate two phases of modified user experience for members in China, so transition can be as smooth as possible. You will see slight changes within Virgin Pulse app and web platform, starting June 17th.
What will remain accessible:
- Healthy Habits
- Journeys
- Videos
- Some stats (steps, sleep, etc.)
- Announcements, tip cards, events
- Challenges (without chat)
- Friends and leaderboard
- Rewards
- Event Calendar
If you experience difficulty accessing the Virgin Pulse app during these phases, please use your phone's browser instead to visit app.member.virginpulse.com and try to log in.
In case you still experience difficulties to access your Virgin Pulse account, we suggest:
- Try logging in to app.member.virginpulse.com on your work-provided computer while on your company’s network
- Try to access the app or website through a legal, government-approved VPN server
As we move along through phase 1 and 2 of Virgin Pulse platform modification for China, we will update this article with additional tips, so please check it periodically.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this process.
